First remove spiders, mouse droppings and old bits of sticky installation tape from the outside. Check that the knobs move, but don't force them or you could be in real trouble. DON'T try to undo the little grub screws in the knobs unless you have exactly the right sized jeweller's screwdriver and even so be prepared for the blade to break. By now you will probably be making the decision to send it to me for a proper overhaul. Even if you have found a pristine Halda still in its box, do ring me up so that I can warn you of one or two things that need checking after many years of disuse. Don't forget I supply photocopies of the instruction leaflets in any of four languages. There are a number of alternative ways of connecting up the various meters you have to your speedo cable, in order to adapt to the circumstances and to the amount of space you have in you particular vehicle.
